About this Role

Senior leadership role managing NRC's South-Central area office, overseeing high-quality implementation of NRC's core competencies and all support functions across Damascus, Homs, and Daraa. The Area Manager is a key member of the Country Management Group and is responsible for programme management, team leadership, risk mitigation, and external representation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for NRC's South-Central area office
  • Oversee implementation of all core competency programmes (Shelter, WASH, Education, Food Security, Legal Aid, Livelihoods)
  • Manage and develop a large and diverse team across multiple field locations
  • Represent NRC with government authorities, donors, UN agencies, and coordination bodies
  • Lead risk management and security protocols for staff and operations
  • Contribute to country-level strategy and annual planning processes
  • Ensure compliance with NRC policies, donor requirements, and humanitarian standards

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of humanitarian leadership/management experience
  • Experience managing multi-sector programmes in complex, insecure environments
  • Strong team management and organisational development skills
  • Experience in stakeholder representation and donor engagement
  • Knowledge of Syria or Middle East context strongly preferred
  • Fluent English; Arabic a strong asset
