Shelter, WASH and Infrastructure Field Assistant (2 Positions)

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) assists refugees and internally displaced persons across the globe: providing emergency aid, fighting for their rights, and strengthening their opportunities for a brighter future. DRC has operated in Syria since 2008, initially responding to the Iraqi refugee crisis before transitioning to a full-scale response to the Syria crisis from 2011 onwards, working across five key sectors: Economic Recovery and Resilience, Protection, WASH, Shelter and Infrastructure, and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding.

Overall purpose of the role: The Shelter, WASH, and Infrastructure Field Assistant provides administrative and technical support within Hama and Homs Governorates for the Shelter, WASH, and Infrastructure sector. 2 positions available.

Contract: National contract · 6 months (potentially renewable) · Start: As soon as possible · Level I2 (DRC salary scale) · Deadline: 14 May 2026

• Conduct pre-assessments for shelters, schools, and WASH infrastructure
• Create sketches for rehabilitation activities and AutoCAD drawings
• Document work sites through photography
• Monitor implementation progress and conduct head counts
• Perform quality surveys with beneficiaries
• Supervise equipment and furniture distribution
• Submit quarterly market pricing reports
• Complete additional tasks as assigned by the direct manager or Shelter Manager

Education and Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in the construction domain
• Engineering degree in Civil, Architecture, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering

Technical Competencies

• Experience following standard procedures and guidelines for shelter and WASH projects
• Knowledge of renewable and durable power projects
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Fluent written and spoken English and Arabic
