About this Role
UNOPS Syria seeks a Finance Officer (ICS-08) to provide financial management and oversight for UNOPS Syria operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and accountability across project budgets. The role supports UNMAS Syria and other UNOPS project portfolios with financial analysis, reporting, and internal control functions.
Responsibilities
- Monitor project budgets and ensure expenditure aligns with approved plans
- Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses for management review
- Process and review financial transactions for accuracy and compliance
- Conduct financial risk assessments and support audit processes
- Advise programme staff on financial policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
- Maintain financial records in UNOPS' oneUNOPS ERP system
- Support capacity building of finance and administrative staff
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field with 2 years relevant experience; OR professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA) with additional experience
- Knowledge of IPSAS, IFRS, or UN financial management standards
- Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Fluent English and Arabic required
- Experience in UN system or international organisation finance preferred
