Climate Landscape Analysis Consultant (WASH)
About this Role
UNICEF Syria seeks a Consultant to develop a comprehensive Climate Landscape Analysis for Children (CLAC) focusing on WASH, examining climate and environmental trends and their implications for children's rights and UNICEF programming in Syria. The consultancy is 2 months in duration and can be conducted on-site in Damascus with some remote work flexibility.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyse existing literature on climate change impacts in Syria, particularly on WASH infrastructure and access
- Assess how climate trends affect children's access to safe water and sanitation
- Map institutional frameworks, policy gaps, and partner capacity related to climate-WASH nexus
- Develop the full CLAC report with actionable recommendations for UNICEF programme adaptation
- Present findings to UNICEF Syria and government stakeholders
- Propose indicators for integrating climate considerations into UNICEF's WASH programming
Requirements
- Advanced degree in environmental science, climate studies, WASH, or related field
- Minimum 5 years experience in climate analysis or WASH in fragile/MENA contexts
- Strong research, data analysis, and technical writing skills
- Familiarity with UNICEF programme frameworks and climate-WASH intersections
- Fluent English required; Arabic an asset
